We presented to Gerber Hospital OB/GYN unit on due to pain following cervical balloon dilation. Upon arrival to the hospital, it was discovered that all computer systems and phones were down system wide. The ER couldn’t even call up to OB/GYN to notify of our arrival. When we reached the OB/GYN unit, we were greeted by Macey who was kind, energetic, compassionate, and bubbly. She assisted us immediately and helped to get us admitted and comfortable in our room. Once in our room I had requested to take a bath to help with labor pains only to discover that there was no hot water. Despite the stresses of EPIC downtime and no hot water, everyone on staff remained positive and professional. Our next interaction with Macey occurred the following evening during our delivery. Macey played an encouraging and supportive role when it was time to push, unfortunately our daughter had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck and was stunned at birth. She had to be removed from my chest to undergo resuscitation. Macey seemed to be the one to take charge during the resuscitation. She remained calm, professional, and efficient. She was able to revive our daughter with help of the staff. She then helped to discharge us in a timely manner the following day. We are very appreciative of all interactions with all staff during our stay. Thank you!
