Rebecca Fenes is an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and compassionate person of whom we had the pleasure to have several times as our nurse during our long stay at Riley’s. She made little moments such as bath time more fun and special for our baby girl by playing Disney music and singing to her. She would also talk to our daughter and comfort her when she was upset. As a nurse, Becca is extremely knowledgeable and was patient with my many questions regarding my daughter’s care. She took time to look through her chart at notes and explain results or to make sure that she contacted someone that could explain what they meant. She is the reason that I knew what to look for regarding electrolyte imbalances with my daughter’s heart rhythm and could help make sure it was brought to the team’s attention when it happened when I was alone with my daughter. Becca is a light with such an upbeat personality that we looked forward to seeing when she was working. Sadly, our daughter passed away but even in those last days, Becca made sure to give my child and us special experiences like carefully painting her nails using a flashlight so as to not wake her by turning on the lights and helping to decorate the hospital room for Christmas (in November!). Becca watched our daughter grow with us and not only cared for her, but loved her. She is deserving of recognition for being an incredible person, friend, and nurse.
