The past 6 months have gone by so fast as I have been a patient of the infusion center.  When you get a diagnosis of cancer, your world stops spinning. You have your family and co-workers for support, but sometimes you have to continue to be strong for your family while trying to cope with this major turn of events that has just occurred. At the infusion center, I was not expecting them to be a source of my support team.  However, when I went there, I felt as if I did not have to be the strong one.  The infusion center staff were there to take care of me.  The weekly appointments felt tolerable because of all of them.  From joking around with Justin at the check-in desk, getting Vital signs taken, getting my port accessed, and throughout my treatment in little room/cubicle, I felt cared for.  I know I could reach out to any of the team members for support, and they will be there.

But it was not just me that they were caring for.  I sat in the waiting room for many days and watched the care and compassion this team has for all its infusion patients. I watched the lady at the door greeting people when they came through the door, directing them where to go.  I watched the check-in desk refer to many people by their first name because they were there so often that they formed a relationship.  I watched the triage nurses come out to the waiting room and sit down next to patients to ask them how they were, and to discuss lab results.  I watched the nurses for the treatment chairs interact with the patients, taking the time to ask how they have been, give advice, and joke around to put smiles on the faces of patients. I watched every single one of these team members (from door to treatment chair) go above and beyond what they were asked to do.  They become like family to many of their patients and provide so much emotional support for each one of them.

The infusion center deserves to be recognized for the amount of love and kindness each member of this team provides to their patients.  They consistently go above and beyond, day in and day out, providing that extra bit of support to get you through the rough times.  Thank you for taking such good care of me.
