The compassion and respect she showed him in his darkest, final hours was inspiring. With her care and action, he was able to be comfortable and pass peacefully. She held his hand all day and till the end.
Sonja was wonderful during a difficult time of transition for one of our residents here at Legacy. She sat at the bedside for hours doing anything possible to keep him comfortable, from holding a fan on him, asking him if he needed anything to drink or if he was comfortable, and even reassuring him during his delusions. Sonja was quick to ask for help to get medications on board to help keep the resident comfortable and his anxiety low. She held his hand at the bedside until his death. She really was wonderful during such a difficult time. He couldn’t have asked for a better nurse to be at bedside with one of our own. Thank you.

I want to include my thoughts as well. She offered reassurance and showed respect for this gentleman on our services. He was a veteran with PTSD; family was estranged; family was out of town. The only people available were the Legacy and Hospice staff. She messaged me right away that he was uncomfortable. Grabbed a fan to take appropriate action to help his shortness of breath while I messaged the doctor. All day, he said he needed to pack his bags for his trip. She told him he was safe, loved, and that she would pack his bags for him. The compassion and respect she showed him in his darkest, final hours was inspiring. With her care and action, he was able to be comfortable and pass peacefully. She held his hand all day and till the end. I have never been so inspired. Thank God for hospice. We are the last responder. She listened to him and helped him physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Moved from the recliner to his bedside to be more attentive. I cannot say enough. This is exactly what hospice should be. She is exactly what the heart of hospice means, and I am so blessed to have worked with her. God put her in the right place at the right time. I have never seen someone go so above and beyond. God bless her. He told her that she looked like his mom. I think she was his own hospice angel by his bedside.
