Dr. Jeneva Gularte-Rinaldo was recognized for her work advancing health equity and mitigating health disparities caused by social determinants of health.

Some highlights of Dr. Gularte-Rinaldo’s work include:

· Teaching courses addressing social determinants of health and discussing health disparities to pre-licensure and graduate-level students.

· Co-leading a Spanish Instruction for Students in Healthcare feasibility study to incorporate medical terminology in conversational Spanish coursework.

· Providing a keynote presentation for the Pipeline Initiative, a program geared toward predominantly Hispanic high school students, to encourage them to consider a career in healthcare.

· Serving medically underserved Hispanic population at a clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area.

· Assisting with campaigns to address children’s environmental health following wildfires in California and during the pandemic.

· Providing the presentation, “Latino Health Care: Advancing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity” at the NAHN 43rd Annual Conference, as well as many other professional podium and poster presentations at nationally recognized nursing and health care conferences.

· Serving on NAHN Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee and co-authoring a letter of intent for the AstraZeneca ACT grant on Health Equity.

As described by one of her nominators, Dr. Gularte-Rinaldo is “a nursing leader, educator, activist, and clinician in the Hispanic community.” We are proud to have Dr. Gularte-Rinaldo representing the National Association of Hispanic Nurses as a leader on a local, state, and national level!
