On the next day, Roxanne didn’t have us as patients, but once again, she assisted her colleague and asked if we could bring them together to eat dinner.
My husband and I were both patients in the CVICU. Roxanne had both of us as patients the first day I was admitted. She was his nurse when I was admitted. With MICU, I was taken to the Cath lab, and they called my husband to inform him. He became very anxious, not knowing what was going on. His nurse dropped everything and went down to the Cath lab to see how I was doing and reported back to him. This relieved his anxiety very much.
Then she actually, as luck would have it, had a next admission, and that would be me. All day, she kept us both informed and, in the evening, walked me around the unit to see my husband. On the next day, she didn’t have us as patients, but once again, she assisted her colleague and asked if we could bring them together to eat dinner. As we know, anxiety plays a significant part. She was a 5-star in alleviating ours and our families'. Then came discharge. Her instructions given to my husband were accurate and very educational. She left plenty of time for questions and answers and prioritized everything for him in layman’s terms. I am a retired ICUU nurse of 38 years, so I can say by experience that she loves what she does, and she does it well! She is an asset to UF HEALTH! Professionalism and compassion. Thank you!
