One nurse in particular stood out, and I really feel that it is important to highlight this. Kaleigh immediately connected with P when she took over as his nurse. P had been so overwhelmed by everything that was happening to him and yet tried to keep it calm. Kaleigh not only advocated and provided incredible care to him, but she was reassuring, genuine, and kept his spirits high. Kaleigh made me feel so at ease, and she took care of me and my mom as if we were just as important. I wanted to help with care, but she forced me to sit down quite a few times and just be the family member. My mom truly could not say enough things about Kaleigh, but one moment took the cake for her. Kaleigh asked me how P liked his hair and beard cut. I said he wasn’t too picky, but he definitely liked to be cleaner-shaven. The next morning, when my mom came to see him, he was out of bed in the chair, clean-shaven with a haircut, smiling. Immediately, my mom lit up and said, “Oh wow, there is my husband!” That was one of the many moments that Kaleigh shined.
