Madalynn "Maddy" Robinette was the sweetest, gentlest and most comforting nurse to my Mom during our stay at St Johns. Even though she is young and new to the profession, it was evident that she was made to care for others. She took care of my Mom for a few nights, but still came in at the beginning of her shifts to say hi and give my Mom a hug even though she wasn’t the nurse for that evening. Some mornings I would even wake to the gentle sound of her voice whispering to my Mom (who was on a vent at the time) that she “needed to keep fighting” and that “everything would be okay.” I’d see my Mom nodding as Maddy embraced her and held her hand. Then she would come over to me and give me a hug, no words needed spoken—I could see her genuine empathy in her eyes. Another time she came in to say hello, she noticed my Mom seemed sad and down; a few hours later she taped two colorful drawings on the wall for my Mom to look at and smile. The naturally pure love that Maddy displayed will forever hold a special place in my heart. She is a blessing to your hospital and all of her patients.
