Jana’s greeting, her pleasant smile, and her easy command of the settling process brought a blessed and indescribable calm to both of us.
Arriving in the cardiac ICU from the ER, having just learned my husband was in AFIB for the second time in two weeks, our heads were spinning with the “what ifs” we were learning. In 48 years of marriage, neither of us had ever been hospitalized and frankly we were “in shock”! Jana’s greeting, her pleasant smile, and her easy command of the settling process brought a blessed and indescribable calm to both of us. All day, Jana kept a close eye on both of us. Before the shift ended, she brought a chair and linens so I could stay the night at my husband’s side. She also reassured us not only would we be “in good hands” for the night, but that she would see us in the morning. Again, the calm and warmth she provided were heaven-sent. Though B was in AFIB for 26 hours before self-converting, it was a gift to us that Jana was walking with him when it occurred. Her joy for him was palpable! Jana is a wonderful person, a great nurse, and most deserving of the DAISY Award.
