He was absolutely dedicated in body and soul to the well being of my husband
My husband was very sick.
The VA instructed the ambulance to take him to NWTH where he would be taken care of.
In a short time he was transferred to the ICU Tower B room 204B.
I have never been to this hospital, so the excellent care really impressed me.
But one person in particular, Tony LaFuente went to be the sitter (not really he wasn’t sitting at all). He was absolutely dedicated in body and soul to the well being of my husband, he kept an eye on the telemetry monitor at all times, he moved him from the bed to the soft chair (my husband is a very big and heavy individual), changing his clothes, and continually bringing all kinds of drinks and food.
Watching every move of my husband, very knowledgeable in checking his heart, using all kinds of machines and gadgets to make him more comfortable in any way, form, or description.
I asked Tony if he served in the Armed Services, he said, “yes for 26 years. I’m retired from them.”
“So how come you are working here now?” “Well, I come to serve people and I enjoy doing it.”
Yesterday when he heard that somebody was having problems in the room next to him. Tony went to help immediately, came back all wet after the patient urinated all his clothes.
He left to change his clothes.
On and on I could see his heart and his mind already to help people.
I’m terribly sorry my letter is not very well written. My English is very poor but my heart knows he deserves the DAISY Award pin.
