Equally important to her clinical skills, she is empathetic, kind, and compassionate.
Martha Frenzel has dedicated her 40-year nursing career to caring for women and children in the Maternal Child Health Department. Her journey here at New York Presbyterian Westchester (Lawrence Hospital) began incidentally. Martha had accompanied a friend on a nursing interview to lend support. During the interview she made such an impression on the director of nursing that she was offered a position on the spot.

Martha was initially hired as a Labor & Delivery nurse, where she worked for many years before exploring the rest of the Maternal Child Health Department. Throughout her career, she has worked in the prenatal department, post-partum unit, and well-baby nursery.  After raising four children, she decided to make a change and started in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Martha is one of a kind; she exemplifies what it means to be a nurse.  She is highly skilled clinically in a variety of disciplines. Equally important to her clinical skills, she is empathetic, kind, and compassionate. Martha truly cares for her patients and colleagues. She has precepted countless new nurses into the various departments and works diligently to keep the NICU running smoothly.  She always makes herself available to offer help when needed or an ear to listen.
