Mikayla was able to help ease the patient's anxiety and made her feel much more comfortable being readmitted to the hospital.
As a new grad nurse, Mikayla has shown herself to be absolutely exceptional, and we are so lucky to have her!

Mikayla had a patient whose newborn was sent to Boston for a higher level of care. From the beginning of her shift, Mikayla was adamant about getting her patient transferred to Boston as well to be reunited with her baby. She communicated tirelessly with our doctors and the Boston Hospital to get this patient a bed. She never once stopped advocating for this patient, no matter how much pushback she got. By the end of her shift, she successfully secured a bed for her patient in the same hospital as her baby and was able to arrange transportation before the end of her shift.

Simultaneously, Mikayla had a patient who was admitted in extreme mental distress. Mikayla was able to help ease the patient's anxiety and made her feel much more comfortable being readmitted to the hospital. She went above and beyond to get this patient the help she needed on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend when resources became scarce.

Mikayla goes above and beyond for her patients and the staff. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and jump in to help a nurse or CA with any task. She is always looking for an opportunity to learn new things. In an emergent situation, Mikayla is able to remain calm, which is imperative to not escalate an already stressful situation. The entire mother-baby unit and our patients are so lucky to have her!
