Stacey Matson is an educator for the ICU department at Verde Valley Medical Center. She works to make sure that all of the nurses working in the ICU have the knowledge and skillset they need to provide exceptional care to our community. Recently, many ICU staff members found themselves facing significant challenges outside of work. These challenges impacted staffing and morale for the team as they are a close-knit group. I have watched Stacey go above and beyond to support her team and wrap her arms around them. She continues her day shift responsibilities as an educator and picks up night shifts as a bedside nurse to make sure that the charge role is adequately covered. She also continues to support staff by personally organizing meals and fundraisers and even going to employee homes to provide comfort and complete tasks that they need help with in their personal lives. She has done all of this without seeking praise or recognition, and is truly from her heart. Her actions are selfless, she places the community and staff members before herself. She continues to provide comfort and support to all who need it while working both days and nights. Her heart and deep care for her colleagues and community are truly an example of what a DAISY Award is all about.
