We all felt like Justine was an advocate for us all.
My mother was in NYU for a triple bypass, and after three days, she was being discharged. While in the lobby, my father felt weak and looked pale. I rushed him into the ER wing, where we discovered he was in the middle of a STEMI heart attack. The emergency team was amazing and went to work. Once my dad was admitted to KP15, he was met by a wonderful team of professionals who were committed to his care. Though every healthcare worker we encountered was amazing, we were truly blessed to have the guardian angel that Justine was for my dad and my family.
Her commitment to my father’s care, his comfort, and his dedication to keeping our family apprised of new developments and what to expect next helped in all of our healing through the process. My dad repeatedly told Justine and her superiors that he was grateful for her presence and that he couldn’t imagine being this at ease and comfortable during his hospitalization, and it was because of the peace of mind that Justine was looking after him. We all felt like Justine was an advocate for us all. It took us in our family only once to introduce ourselves by name for her to remember them by heart and even introduce us by name to other doctors and nurses we interacted with. For her professionalism, kindness, empathy, and commitment to care - my family urges the consideration of Justine for this worthy Award.
