I would like to take this opportunity to recognize my PCP RN, Lori Hearst. There are several occasions when she has gone above and beyond regarding my care, therefore, it is difficult to be able to choose only one example.

I am a dialysis patient and frequently get fatigued after my treatment. If Lori is contacted by the dialysis nurse because of a need I have Lori never hesitates to fit me into the clinic schedule and I can avoid another trip to the clinic.

On one occasion, I needed an immunization. Lori recognized that I am of an at-risk population and I was overdue and reached out to me to make sure I was scheduled. During this same visit she took the time to review my medication records and realized that I never ordered my diabetic socks and ensured that they were ordered and she sent them to my home. Believe it or not, just having the socks has improved my quality of life because my feet feel so much better.

It is because of my faith in Lori to help me when I need it, that I feel so comfortable with my care at the VA. She reduces my anxiety and makes me feel cared for.
