Candee is such a special nurse, never tiring, always there, caring for a dying daughter and the family, going above and beyond.
I was called to the hospital emergency room, parent's worst nightmare. My daughter was seriously injured. I was trying to grasp what the ER doctor was telling me- she was not going to make it. I believe I was in shock. Then I remember a nurse, Candee Bradow, came for me. She held tight my hand and an arm around my waist and took me into the ICU room to see my daughter. My daughter was badly bruised and swollen, almost unrecognizable. Candee talked me thru this pain and agony. Candee was a constant for 3 long days. She explained the situation to me over and over-kindly and honestly. Even though my daughter could not hear, Candee talked to her. Even though my daughter could probably not feel, Candee was ever so gentle as she moved her around during treatment. When the "Gift of Life" representatives came, Candee helped me get through those conversations. My daughter was a strong believer in the "Gift of Life" and was a donor. In order to donate, my daughter would need to be kept alive. Candee had to work hard to keep her alive, all the while explaining what she was doing and why. Finally it was time to let my daughter go. Candee was at my side, holding my hand, during the Honor Walk which seemed to be miles of hallways and during the transfer of my daughter to the ambulance in route to U of M Ann Arbor. Hugs and sobs. Because of Candee's hard work and to keep my daughter alive, she made it to U of M and was able to save 3 lives as she lost her own. Candee is such a special nurse, never tiring, always there, caring for a dying daughter and the family, going above and beyond. We were blessed to have Candee with us to keep us strong and help get us through the nightmare. I imagine Candee has done this before and will do it again. McLaren Hospital is fortunate to have her, and so is every patient in her care.
