She would make sure that he was comfortable and in no pain. She would listen to what we would say, and actually listen to us.
My Husband had surgery in the hospital. We were in three different rooms. We hit the jackpot when we arrived in 4 South Tower C.IMU. Our nurse was the best we have had in a long time. She was kind, professional, caring, and was very concerned as to how my husband was feeling. We didn't have to ask anything. She explained whatever she was doing and what was going to happen. Before it was done, she would make sure that he was comfortable and in no pain. She would listen to what we would say, and actually listen to us. If she did not know something, she would look it up and get back to us with the correct answer. Even if her shift was over, she would stay to complete what she was doing. She never passed her responsibilities over to anyone else. She was thinking of things to make him more comfortable before she made it to the room. If we would have to come back to the hospital, I would only hope that our next nurse is half as good as Laveena has been. I can't express how thankful we are that we had her to take care of my husband. She would even check to make sure that I was doing well and that I understood what was going on.

I hope that she gets recognized, as she should be, for all that she has done to make our stay as pleasant as to could be in the hospital. She always had a smile on her face and a great personality.

***

She was so caring and friendly in a very tense and difficult time. My mother was 78 and this was her first surgery. It was difficult with complications, but Laveena made it so much better. For six nights, she took care of Mom with the same compassion, kindness, and energy as she did the very first night. There were a couple of nights that I could not stay the night, but I was able to leave without worrying and with confidence that Laveena would take care of her just as she would her own mom, and mom felt the same.

We could not thank her enough. She embodies the very definition of what being a nurse means. As a fellow nurse of 25 years, I feel like I can say this without hesitation or reserve. Laveena will bring honor to the award and represent it to the highest degree.

Thank you sincerely.
