I want Memorial to know how important it was to me that she offered to pray with me so that I could find peace because I could feel him slipping away from us that day.
My husband was in the ICU for a week before being moved to PCU. His second day there, Shelby was his nurse. He wasn’t very responsive due to a brain bleed, but Shelby was able to get him to respond by tickling his feet and his head yes or no for pain. I was concerned that he wasn’t responding as much as he was in ICU. Sometime during that day, I was crying beside his bed, and she came in and asked me was there anything she could do for me. She offered to pray with me for him and over him. I wanted her to know how she helped me find peace that day by praying with me. She told me she wouldn’t be back until Friday, but we lost him on Thursday morning. Shelby hasn’t been a nurse that long but she’s going to be a great nurse and Memorial is blessed to have her. I want Memorial to know how important it was to me that she offered to pray with me so that I could find peace because I could feel him slipping away from us that day. Sometimes, the family needs a compassionate and caring nurse just as much as the patient, and we had that with Shelby.
