Elizabeth is the SMT LPN for the Tenaya myGeneration clinic. She always goes above and beyond to make sure patients are taken care of. She shows great compassion in her care. We had a patient who came into the clinic recently to get his labs done around 11:30 AM. These labs were fasting, and the patient appeared very pale and off balance when he came in. He reported to the phlebotomist that he was fasting for these labs, and he took all his medications this morning, which were blood pressure medications and his insulin. Elizabeth immediately screened the patient for an SMT and followed PCP orders. Initially, he was given some water and Glucerna to drink, but the patient was not able to tolerate the fluids. The patient's blood pressure was extremely low, and blood sugar was within range. The PCP ordered IV fluids, which Elizabeth administered, and stayed with the patient until it was complete. The patient's blood pressure was stabilized, and the patient was able to return home safely.
