Waking up from surgery was something I could never have prepared myself for! This was my first and hopefully my last surgery I will ever need! However, if I had to do again, I would choose the same hospital and same team of nurses as the ones that cared for me. Aaron specifically was very focused on me at a time when things felt uncertain! I felt safe and cared for as it seemed he never took his eyes off of me after I woke from surgery! His confidence in himself and his nursing knowledge, technique, and credibility manifested that day for me! The first thing I wanted was a Coke! He explained that was not a good choice but provided different options! He also helped with pain management and told me that my pillow would be my best friend for a bit! He showed me to hug the pillow around my middle because of the pain! This proved important for later on at home! Aaron, I love the glasses! They befit you at a time when patients are at their worst. They made me smile, and still do! Also, everyone was wonderful that day! Everyone seemed so happy doing what they are doing! Aaron was a standout of the awesomeness of everyone caring for me and I’m sure the others they cared for that day! The next day, when I woke up, I thought of Aaron first thing! I thought, “If I had a son, I’d want him to be just like Aaron!”
