I would like to nominate Wayne Toote for the January DAISY Award.  He embodies the culture we are building at Woman’s Hospital through his commitment to patient care and collaboration with all disciplines.  It’s caregivers like Wayne who make people want to work at Woman’s Hospital, and patients want to receive care here.  His dedication and commitment do not go unnoticed by patients through Press Ganey comments nor by his colleagues, as evidenced by the attached email.
 
“Two of my employees recognized Wayne. They both said he’s great with patients, is always super helpful, has a positive attitude, and is confident in what he does. Since the resources/support is different on weekends, they really appreciate him.”
 
Wayne was also recognized by one of our nurse externs. She wrote, “Throughout our collaboration, he has consistently demonstrated kindness, fostering a positive learning environment. His patience and understanding have been evident, particularly when addressing technical challenges. Instead of being frustrated, he offered guidance, sharing his experiences with learning the computer system and encouraging open communication. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, which include managing patient care and administrative duties as a secretary, Mr. Toote maintains unwavering professionalism. His profound respect and genuine care mark every interaction with patients. He truly sets the standard for exemplary nursing practice.” She went on to say that when she ran into Wayne in the hall several weeks after her shift, he remembered her and called her by her name. He asked how she was and sincerely wanted to hear about how school was going. She said it made her feel important and seen. Thank you, Wayne, for your care and commitment to positivity.
