Delaney is compassionate and loving towards her patients, she’s kind and respectful towards their families. She’s a great communicator and patient advocate with the doctors, and she’s the best person to have on your team. I had the pleasure of precepting Delaney as an Auburn Student and orienting her when she joined Brookwood. 

I could tell from the very beginning she was made for this job. Loving and supporting these women during their labor and delivery came so naturally to her. While so many stories come to mind to explain why Delaney is an extraordinary nurse, one in particular stands out to me and my coworkers. 

While laboring a patient one early morning the fetal heart rate began to decline. Delaney proceeds with her interventions, and while checking the patient, she discovers a prolapsed cord. This finding warrants an emergency C-Section. As the nurse who discovers the prolapsed cord, you must continue to hold the fetal head off the compressed cord until delivery in order to provide the baby with oxygen. While Delaney stayed in place, our team quickly prepped the patient for imminent delivery and began running her down the hall to the OR. The patient was visibly distraught, scared, and worried. While everything else was out of Delaney’s control because she was unable to move - she did the only thing she could think to do at the time. She began praying out loud with and for the patient. Saying the Lord’s prayer and then asking for His protection and safety over this patient and her sweet baby. We got them to delivery, and the patient and her baby were safe and healthy. 

Delaney not only provided incredible nursing care for that patient, she also brought comfort and peace to her when she needed it the most. All of her patients truly love and trust her. She’s the girl you want on your team and the one you want to take care of you!!
