As a former critical care nurse and nurse manager for over 40 years, I was responsible for selecting nurses with the kind of critical care skills and critical thinking abilities that it takes to become a member of a strong critical care team. Daniela Azeredo manifests their attributes. She was a compassionate, kind and thoughtful nurse who had the ability to sense when I needed nursing care, medicines, or doctor intervention while at the same time comforting my family and keeping them informed. She went above and beyond with respect to comfort in a complicated environment that I appreciated. It is the small compassionate and thoughtful things that make a difference in dealing with patient care. Her instinctual adaptability and attention to details are what make her so special. For example, when I was getting ready to sit in the chair, she would tie the sheet on the back, so when I sat down, the sheet would not come off. When I was out of bed, she always did the extra measures that kept me in a neat and orderly environment to make sure I was always comfortable. Small accomplishments like these are just the tip of the iceberg, showing the differences between wonderful care to exemplary care which is what Daniela provided. She is highly trained, skilled and experienced.
