I could depend on him to tell me what was going on with my mom, that was important to me being so far away.
I called WAMC and got Kevin Dominguez, my mom’s nurse. He was very nice and had a kind voice on the phone. I told him who I was and asked him about my mom. He was calm, pleasant and patient. He would become my contact for my mom and help me through the days to come.
I called Kevin several times and he never was rude, or in a rush to get me off the phone. I was afraid I was bothering him, but he was always positive and honest. I could depend on him to tell me what was going on with my mom, that was important to me being so far away. I trusted him. He would explain everything to me, and he was concerned and encouraged me. I didn't worry so much after I talked to him, he was a light at the end of the tunnel.
I met Kevin at the hospital. He was just as nice as he was on the phone. He gave us the protective gear to wear and never rushed us out when we were visiting with my mom. He was gentle spoken and explained everything to me and my sister-in-law about mom’s medicines and the amounts and everything about her condition. He was on top of everything and very thorough. I felt at peace, him explaining it all to me. He cares about people a lot. I had never gone through this before. It was so hard. Kevin’s whole positive attitude, gentle demeanor and kind words helped me to finally let my mom go. Kevin said to me after; I think you did the right thing. I needed to hear that. Kevin gave me my mom’s wedding ring and hugged my sister-in-law and I. He helped print out all the necessary paperwork I would need for my time-off work, for the passing of mom. He knew exactly what I needed, and he took the time to do it, too. I will always remember our nurse, Kevin. He was outstanding, amazing, kind and understanding. He will always be the best nurse in the world to me. Thank you, Kevin, for helping my mom, and for taking care of her and for helping me too. You were there, helping me hold up, at the hardest time in my life. You are wonderful!
