Being in the hospital with my dad over the past 7 days has been extremely difficult. He came in experiencing horrific tremors in his upper body and had a very scary reaction to a medicine that he was given to calm the tremors. The tremors were gone by the next morning, but when he woke up, he was a completely different person (i.e. hallucinating, angry, etc.). Fortunately, he is much better today, and we should be discharged tomorrow if all goes well. I am going to use the word "traumatic" to describe my experience, because I had never seen my dad like this. We had some good nurses, but I would like to recognize one in particular. Daisy Perez, one of our floor nurses, showed genuine compassion during the entire time that my dad was under her watch. She was very proactive in getting information to doctors and/or whoever else was involved in what he needed. She always did what she said she would do. One other thing that I appreciated and was surprised by was her attention to how I was doing. Whether it was getting me coffee or just listening to me talk, she was always present. Like I mentioned before, we had several good nurses during our stay, but Daisy stood out as going above and beyond what she was required or had to do. Thank you, Daisy!
