At 4 a.m. on Sunday, my wife woke me up saying she was having contractions. Once they became worse at 5 a.m. we left home in Andrews to Odessa to deliver at MCH. I was on the phone with 911 & the hospital and I had only just arrived at about 42nd street in Odessa when my wife began saying the babies were coming and by 16th street she was holding our first baby. I continued to rush to the hospital while hearing my wife in pain and my newborn 24 week baby cry. Upon arriving at the hospital I panicked because I couldn’t find a single soul in sight. Then suddenly two individuals that will forever have impacted my life appeared, James Rowe and another nurse with him. These two took over with such urgency and were very reactive for such an unstable and chaotic situation. James got our first baby all wrapped up and took her up to the NICU while the other nurse went with my wife up to the OR to assist in delivering our second child who was born just minutes later. These two amazing nurses didn’t just step up in action but also after when they went not once but 3 times to check on us in our rooms and also stopped in the NICU to check on our newborn babies as well. They also checked in before we got discharged and shared how this experience impacted their lives as well. James deserves to be recognized for his courageous acts, ability to react instinctively under pressure and provide top tier care even from the front seat of a pickup. James will forever be in our hearts and we can’t wait to share the amazing story with our babies in the future of the two nurses who went above and beyond to provide amazing care to them in such an unstable circumstance. We are endlessly thankful and may god bless them both in their careers and everything they do. We are forever grateful to have met James and couldn’t think of anyone more deserving, and if we ever may need your assistance again we hope to have James on our team again.
