My mother came in for a carotid artery surgery. She was scared and restless after being placed in the ICU. A few nurses had been in and out throughout the stay. The entire nursing staff was kind and professional, but Carla stood out to my mother and me. She didn’t just come in and out to do a job, but she took the time needed to care for my mother and her concerns. She gave off a presence that my mother felt, and she was able to calm down and trust the care she was receiving. The gentleness and care in her demeanor and tone just was beyond something we have ever experienced at any medical facility. I know it wasn’t a “big deal,” but to us, it was. My mom was so excited to know that Carla would be back the next morning, and her spirits lifted when she woke up to see this young lady. Sometimes, angels appear in the simplicity of kindness, and I believe Carla possesses the attributes of a true DAISY Nurse.
