Wendy would come to the waiting room and bring our family water or snacks or just offer a needed teddy bear hug. She listened to everything we said and would also get clarification for us. Wendy didn't work in the ICU, but she made things easier for us.
My mom became ill very fast. Catching all of my family off guard. Mom was taken to ICU and placed on a ventilator. She was there for 10 days but felt like a lifetime. My family and I had NO idea how to cope or understand what was happening. Our entire world flipped upside down. I have worked for Trios for the last 20 years and have had the privilege of working with Wendy at some point in my career. When you are an employee and on the other side of things, everything becomes "foggy." My family and I were lost. Forgetting what questions to ask. Barely remembering to eat or drink. My very large family made the ICU waiting room our home. Wendy would come to the waiting room and bring our family water or snacks or just offer a needed teddy bear hug. She listened to everything we said and would also get clarification for us. Wendy didn't work in the ICU, but she made things easier for us. My dad has always had a hard time with hospitals and becomes very agitated when he doesn't understand what is happening due to a language barrier. Wendy explained everything to him and made him comfortable. Kept him calm. Wendy would come up whenever she had a break and would just check on my mom and my family. Making sure we all understood what was happening. My mom was eventually taken to another facility because Trios doesn't have a neurodoctor (which was fine). Wendy made such an impact on my family that my dad and siblings asked if she could come with us to the other facility. She, of course, could not, but she would call to check on Mom or answer her phone if we had questions as to what was said. She went above and beyond when she truly didn't have to. She was the logic and clarity that we needed. This is just my own story about Wendy Morby. As a patient, we were blessed to have her by our side.

As an employee, I have seen Wendy with patients, doctors, and staff. Nursing is truly her calling. Wendy can light up any room by making people laugh or offer a hug if she senses you're not having a great day. She is always calm with patients, and you can see patients become more relaxed with Wendy. She gets patients to let go of the worries they have in that brief moment of interaction. Wendy couldn't be more deserving of this type of recognition.
