Colleen made such a difference not just in my stay in the hospital, but in my life. At first, I just liked Colleen because she "told me stuff", she told me about what was happening in my care and what I needed to do to get out of the hospital. But then, as I got further into my stay, I kept getting Colleen as my nurse and I started realizing what a wonderful person she was. Colleen was a great nurse not only in all things "nursy," but she also made you feel seen, heard, safe, taken care of, important, and most of all, special. Colleen went out of her way to help me and others. Even through my tears, Colleen was there beside me, telling me how I would get through this. Colleen made me laugh, smile, and just be happy. I remember one day when I was waking up, I heard Colleen's familiar knock on the door, and she came into my room smiling and said, "Good morning, sunshine!" She will never know how much that meant to me. Colleen even impacted my family- my sister now wants to go to college to become a nurse because she saw how much Colleen helped me and others. Colleen, you are the best and my favorite nurse.
