I would like to nominate “Miss Monroe County Nurse”, Teresa Meche. My husband recently lost his battle to stage four pancreatic cancer. During his cancer journey over the last year he had many complications, surgeries and hospitalizations at Kaiser in Santa Rosa. Early on he met Teresa and instantly hit it off. Teresa was in the surgery room when my very scared husband had to have some type of pain block to his spine. She comforted him in the surgery room, and it was then it was discovered that he and Teresa were both from Monroe, Louisiana. She comforted him in the surgery room on more than one hospital stay as he was always very scared, especially of needles. Teresa would spend her lunch breaks and regular breaks stopping by his hospital room. She was always upbeat and kept his mindset positive. She put a smile on his face with her deep southern accent and upbeat attitude. She even brought him homemade southern cake and treats! You made a difference to us, and your kindness will always be remembered.
