It has been my personal pleasure to know Teresa Buhagiar and have her as a mentor. I have rarely had a teacher who so genuine, caring, and willing to go the extra mile for those around her. She has a deep passion for evidence-based practice and is committed to improving the quality of care for adult/gerontology patients at Kaiser. I found her work to be tireless, and she does it with true satisfaction and joy. Teresa also makes herself available to her peers and all the nurses at Kaiser who would like her guidance and her knowledge as a CNS. She answers all questions with the lens of being a true and thoughtful teacher who creates safe spaces for all types of learners. I have witnessed her gently coach and teach nurses who come to her, asking her questions regarding how to get started with EBP or about the role of a CNS. Additionally, she is generous in championing her peers in meetings and in person to ensure that they get their due recognition for their hard work. Her compassion, dedication, and positivity make her a truly inspiring nurse leader and I believe that she has earned the title of DAISY Nurse Leader.
