If you have not met Kristin Steinke you should. She is amazing. Kristin is a care manager, so she looks out for our high acuity outpatients, assisting with resources, helping navigate the system. In this particular instance, Kristin assisted with an elderly lady that was over 30 minutes late for her clinic appointment. The provider no longer had time to see the patient and the patient had some dementia. She was adamant that she be seen only by her PCP. Kristin’s interpersonal skills conveyed trust to this patient. She was able to do a full depression assessment, arrange a follow up appointment with cardiology, and send the patient happily on her way. I believe our care managers are unsung heroes – especially Kristin. She is resourceful, kind beyond words, finds humor, and brings a little sunshine where she goes.
