I was in a lot of pain and concerned about what I was getting ready to go through.  She was super kind to me when she came in.  She introduced herself, talked me through what was going to transpire moving forward, and then spent time answering my questions to the best of her ability.  As the night went on, I became very hungry and asked her if I could get something to eat.  She smiled and brought me a sandwich.  I guess she could tell that I was still hungry after I ate it because she asked me if I wanted more to eat because I looked hungry.  She brought me two more sandwiches and something and a refill on my drink.  She could tell that I was worried waiting for my results so she stayed with me and we talked about South Africa, a special place that I have visited as well as her homeland.  We talked about locations I had traveled to within Cape Town, food, culture, and cool tourist things to do.  I was very thankful to her that she talked with me because it got my mind off of the night's events and allowed me to relax.  She had a very soothing, calm demeanor and always had a smile on her face.  As I'm sure you can guess, being a patient in the ER will bring varying levels of concern no matter who you are, and she showed a lot of compassion, empathy, and support in caring for me during my time.  I'm truly grateful because she didn't have to go this extra mile.  I was raised in a medical family, so I've grown up in the "medical life".  It's clear she knows how to be a very good nurse!  I highly recommend her for this award and truly hope that this genuine testimony earns her the recognition that she deserves.
