What truly sets Bart apart is his unwavering commitment to the broader vision of the children's hospital. He understands that the strength of our resource team is not just measured in numbers, but in the depth and breadth of expertise, we bring to the table. Bart has a keen understanding of the critical role our team plays in the overall success of UCSF, advocating tirelessly for our growth and development.
In my 20 years of healthcare experience, I have never encountered a leader as remarkable and genuine as Bart. His leadership style transcends mere management; it is a beacon of inspiration and empowerment that has transformed our Pediatric and Neonatal Acute Care and Critical Care Resource Teams into a force to be reckoned with, comprising over 90 dedicated nurses.
What sets Bart apart is his innate ability to truly see and understand each member of his team. He recognizes our talents, acknowledges our struggles, and harnesses our abilities to their fullest potential. Bart is not just a leader; he is a mentor, a champion, and a relentless advocate for our collective and individual growth.
Under Bart's guidance, our team has undergone a remarkable transformation. In just 20 months, we have expanded our ranks, orienting over 30 staff members across 8 different units of the hospital. Bart's dedication to our team's growth is palpable; he has invested countless hours, working tirelessly to ensure that each new addition is seamlessly integrated and poised for success.

Without Bart's leadership, UCSF would be deprived of over a century's worth of Acute Care and Critical Care expertise. His vision, dedication, and unwavering advocacy have elevated our team to new heights, ensuring that we continue to provide the highest level of care to our patients and their families.
For his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to our team's growth and success, I wholeheartedly nominate Bart for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. His impact extends far beyond the confines of our unit; it is felt in every corner of the hospital, shaping the future of pediatric and neonatal care at UCSF.

The Pediatric Critical Care Resource Team has grown and thrived under Bart’s leadership because of his immense knowledge of how to run a department and his personal approach to leadership. I have never had a nurse manager who checks up on me every day that we are both at work, even if it is just a passing hello, he personally walks to each department that my colleagues and I are all spread around to in order to see us in person. Whenever I have spoken with other nurses who have worked under Bart in other departments, they have nothing but praise for him as an approachable and reasonable manager and this has been my experience as well.
I look forward to working with Bart for many years to come and am excited for what he has in store for our future as the Pediatric Critical Care Resource Team.
