Elby was instrumental in resuscitating my son. She never gave up when the situation was dire and when many would have lost hope. During the critical time after resuscitation, I do not think she left his side.
I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care my son received from Sister Elby during his stay in the ICU. From the moment he arrived, he was met with kindness, compassion, and expertise that went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for during such a challenging time.
My son was involved in a severe car accident and sustained massive head injury and blunt abdominal trauma. He underwent multiple surgeries for organ lacerations, including liver, spleen, and kidney. During the post-operative assessment, Elby noticed dilated pupils and high ICP, where she instantly conveyed this critical message to the neurosurgeon. An immediate CT was done that revealed increase in the hematoma and he was taken for emergency craniotomy.
I was asked to sign the "high risk consent".
"A is our only son". In the midst of uncertainty and despair, the chaos of medical jargon and bleeping monitors, Elby approached us with a reassuring smile and a calming presence that instantly put us at ease.
After the brain surgery, he was brought back to the ICU. He arrested and we saw the team rushing to his room, putting all their efforts to save him.
Elby was instrumental in resuscitating my son. She never gave up when the situation was dire and when many would have lost hope. During the critical time after resuscitation, I do not think she left his side. She did not do this because she was instructed to, but she chose to.
A was in a coma for nearly 17 days. Doctors were initially pessimistic about his chances of recovery. However, against all odds, slowly signs of improvement began to emerge, and A started to show small movements and responses to stimuli. After weeks of intensive care, though weak and disoriented, A finally regained consciousness.
Amidst uncertainty and vulnerability, Elby's presence was a source of comfort and reassurance. I would say " a bright light in the middle of the worst nightmare of my family's life."
Sister Elby, your hardwork will never go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you did, not just for us, but for all your patients under your care.
