Professionalism is easy to find in a nurse, but empathy, true care, and spending extra time talking and listening are somewhat rare. She listens all the time and is always concerned.
Receiving a DAISY Award is, for a nurse, an honour and recognition of one's contribution to the profession.
Pediatric nurses combine the powerful work of nursing with a particular ability to connect with children.
Kids can get really sick and recover way easier than adults can and it is amazing to see the bounce back.
We had A, a 2 year old child, who was admitted with high grade fever.
The patient's parents, who nominated Libitha, spent two weeks in the hospital, and she was the nurse who took care of A.
Azar had fever continuosly for 8 days. He was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. Parents say that they were quite impressed on her compassionate welcome, moreover her attention to detail aided to diagnose and this is what they wrote about Libitha before getting discharged.
"A was worsening before our eyes. We watched as he got poked and prodded with needles, unable to explain to him why.
The team worked closely, trying to figure out A's condition. On the last day, they started mentioning cancer or leukemia. We were in shock !!! But soon, Libitha came in with a doctor and was the first to mention Kawasaki disease. We owe our life to Libitha and will forever be in her debt."

In short, we found a friend who is also a fantastic nurse who helped us with the speedy recovery of our child!"
