as well as her incredible skills as a nurse, Charmaine has things that can never be taught. Her loyalty, her tenacity, and most of all her amazing caring nature.
Charmaine Cox was nominated by a patient who had been on the ward for a number of weeks (40 out of the last 21 months) and wrote that "Charmaine has been my absolute rock from the day I was originally admitted"
She is one of the most dedicated nurses I have ever met in my life. Nursing is not just a job to her. It's something she was born to do.If I really think about it, it is one of the most touching situations to me I can think of.
"Charmaine would stand beside me with her hand either on my forehead, stroking my hair or holding my hand, talking away to me in such a calming manner. Telling me to relax, that she was there and wouldn't leave me. She never ever broke that promise to me. She stayed by my side until the seizure stopped, and I regained consciousness. This happened on several occasions"
You can teach almost anyone to be a nurse, but as well as her incredible skills as a nurse, Charmaine has things that can never be taught. Her loyalty, her tenacity, and most of all her amazing caring nature. I'm so honored not only to have had her taking care of me but to know her at all. She truly is an asset to the nursing profession.
"I will never, ever be able to thank Charmaine and the team for everything they have done for me"
There was a very sad part of the award in that the patient died shortly before the award was given. While the award was full of gratitude and pride and the team also recounted fond memories of the patient who nominated Charmaine.
