I, with my three sons, would like to proudly nominate Grace Kirkpatrick for the DAISY Award for her extraordinary dedication & empathetic care provided to my husband of 47 years, & our family. L, a patient who fought a valiant battle in Critical Care was surrounded not just by the state-of-the-art medical equipment, but more importantly, by the unwavering support & care of Grace. Despite the complexities of his condition, Grace provided care that went far beyond her medical responsibilities. She understood that treating a patient involves more than addressing physical ailments; it involves nurturing the human spirit. Grace consistently displayed exceptional skill & extraordinary compassion. She was not only a caregiver to L but also a source of strength for me. In moments where hope seemed distant, Grace’s reassuring presence provided solace to our family. As he approached the end of his life, Grace orchestrated a serene environment, ensuring that we could be by his side, sharing love & memories. She managed this with a sense of calm professionalism, simultaneously coordinating care & offering emotional support. Even in his passing, the dignity & respect shown was deeply moving.
