We have a patient on our unit that has been here for the past 5 weeks. He is a new paraplegic. His spinal cord injuries were from a failed suicide attempt. He is currently waiting for placement. Deanna being the caring person she is, noticed his hair was getting long and unruly so on her day off she arranged for a hairdresser to come to the hospital to cut his hair. The small gesture of a simple haircut made the difference to the patient. He felt like someone cared and was willing to help. He is struggling with his new disability and it was nice to see a smile on his face.
