Deanna is an ideal colleague who prioritizes the needs of students and assists faculty to achieve greatness. She looks to the positives in situations, both educational and personal situations. Deanna makes individuals feel connected to her and that she is always willing to support others. She encourages faculty to create alternative teaching strategies to improve student comprehension.

Deanna has demonstrated she is a strong nurse educator who exemplifies what it means to teach and live Xavier's Ignatian mission. She is one to practice discernment by sharing her respectful and insightful perspective. She not only steps up to contribute her ideas but also rolls up her sleeves to provide the follow through needed . . . She invests her time and self into her working relationships and the ABSN program is much better as a result of her commitment [and] professional contribution. She elevates the program, creating a better experience for students and a better program as a whole. She also encourages students to improve communication and problem-solve for themselves. She emphasizes that there is no ‘one place’ to find answers and encourages . . . questions and curiosity. She offers support to allow students the confidence to make contacts and question the status quo. Deanna sets an example of being professional mixed with caring.
