Each time he interacted with my granddad, he looked at, talked to and treated him with dignity and respect.
Today marks 13 days that my granddad has been in the hospital. To say this has not been easy is an understatement. My mom and I have been with my granddad the whole time to ensure he was never alone. See my granddad is here for bladder and prostate issues but he also suffers with dementia.
We have been blessed to have Christian Razote as a nurse a couple of times. Each time he interacted with my granddad, he looked at, talked to and treated him with dignity and respect. On the days that Christian was assigned to other patients, he would still say hi and talk to my granddad on our walks up and down the hallway.
In March granddad had his second surgery in two weeks. My mom and I were waiting in the Same Day surgery waiting room on Floor 2 because we were under the impression he would be transferring from his room on the 6th floor to a room on the 5th floor. My mom got a call from the doctor that surgery went great and he would soon be in recovery. After about an hour, my mom went to get an update at the Same Day Surgery desk and was told he was still in recovery and would be moving soon. After another 30 minutes, mom checked again and found out that granddad had been in his room on the 6th floor for some time. Mom and I rushed up the stairs, worried because we thought he was alone. We made it to the room to realize Christian had not left my granddad's side and was actively trying to contact us. He knew granddad couldn't be left alone and that either my mom or I were always with him. You can't imagine our relief on seeing Christian there taking care of granddad.
Christian has proven over and over how great of a nurse he is and even better how compassionate of a person he is. He absolutely proved that he deserves recognition, no questions asked! Thank you Christian for everything!
