My son has been in the ICU at Ochsner Baton Rouge for a few weeks. We absolutely adore every nurse that has taken care of him. Today was Tumaini Rucker’s first time working with him. From the moment that he stepped foot in my son’s room, Rucker never stopped. He handled my son with so much care, but still treated him as a man. He addressed him by saying “Mr.” and proceeded to explain every step from meds to turning him. Not only was Rucker an exceptional nurse but he’s very detailed as well. I left visitation feeling well informed and confident that my son was in the very best care. Rucker proceeded to do housekeeping of his room, sterilizing everything in the room with disinfectant wipes. I was taught how to properly turn my son and how to “float his heels” as he is a quadriplegic. I can’t thank Rucker enough for his kindness. He’s not only a great nurse, but a great person as well.
