My mother was a patient at your hospital several times. It was extremely busy, and I could tell the nurses were exhausted. Not one day went by that I did not see Tashanna come down the hall and check on the nursing staff and ask if they were ok. She came into my mother's room and asked how things were going; she was passing medications so one nurse could take a break. I do not think I have ever seen a director of the unit do anything like this. It seemed like she was concerned about not only the patients but the staff and somehow, she was like a superhero managing all of it with a smile on her face. I do not know how she was doing it, but she was. I would get on the elevator to leave, and she was there working. I would come back, and she was still working, still smiling, and said hello. She made my mother's stay feel personable, and so did her staff. I can tell she is an amazing leader because her nurses carry that same personality, and it shows. I did not hear any complaining, and everyone was helpful just like she was. I am not sure if I am even able to write enough to say how amazing it was as a family member to see a Director of Nursing working the way she was. And to be so supportive. This wasn't just one visit either. My mother had multiple admissions and this Director was exactly the same each and every time and so was her team. She is a DAISY Nurse Leader because she is exactly what a nurse leader should be, and I witnessed this for myself as a visitor. Thank you for your time.
