I cried when Janine walked in because I was so relieved it was her.
My dad was life-flighted to Mon Health and spent 6 days in the ICU before passing away on day 7. Janine was my dad's nurse for 5 of the 6 nights in the ICU. She was incredible from the start. Friendly, kind, compassionate, and caring. She explained things so well and gave us time as a family to process things and re-ask questions if needed; always making us feel like my dad and my family were the only ones she was taking care of. Janine spent quality time with us, which we needed her to do. In spending this time together, we found out she was from the neighboring town and we were able to share some stories and more connections to other people. She became our "Peanut Butter Angel", named after a donut from that town, and that day we happened to bring those donuts to the ICU staff.

In the final days of my dad's life, Janine was right there for my dad and my family. She allowed my mom to spend the night, and my family to spend extra time with him. She took it upon herself and reached out to her own pastor when the chaplain couldn't be reached at 9 PM, and he came in. She was there with us in critical moments, and she worked an extra shift on what was my dad's final night; I cried when she walked in because I was so relieved it was her. My family had bonded to her in such a sad time. We were so thankful for her and I'm sure what she would say she was just doing her job, but it was so much more than that to us. There are just a few things, but we were so thankful for her in our time of need. She made quite an impact on us, and she has our utmost respect as a healthcare professional. Thank you Janine for how you made us feel and for providing the exceptional care that you do!
