My wife was inpatient on that floor for almost 2 weeks. The doctors were unable to manage her excruciating pain! It was really awful what she was going through. Everyone that came into contact with her during that time clearly exhibited sympathy for her. Every alternative to surgery that was ordered was unsuccessful. Her pain was not improving, and all the other doctors who had been sent in to see her were at a loss.

During this time, Kristen was the night nurse for 6 of the nights she was admitted. She was incredibly attentive, very compassionate, and always right on time to administer the pain medication. She had a good sense of humor and kept a very close eye on her. All the nurses did everything they could to get her pain medication increased or administered more frequently. My wife's diagnosis had not been made clear to us. I asked Kristen to request that the surgeon come talk to us. Kristen told us she would try to stay in the room when the surgeon did come in to help us understand what was going on better so we could make more informed decisions. Her help or opinion or anything she could contribute was welcomed because we had been kept in the dark all this time. You could see that she was also frustrated with the situation.

Kristen was my wife's advocate whenever she was on shift. She spoke to us frankly and with a sense of humor that made it easier to get through some of the more difficult moments. She is a good, kind person who clearly cares about what she does and wants to help people. She did everything she could to improve an unfortunate situation. I am so very grateful for her actions and her compassion. She was also a really good support for me. I stayed almost every night my wife was there. I wish I could remember everyone's names that we interacted with while she was there because they were all wonderful. It’s a good hospital with great people taking care of the patients. Thank You!
