Zac was integral in getting her treatment appropriately and advocated for her care the entire time.
A patient came in scared with severe facial angioedema/Lugwig's angina symptoms. The patient had been basically dismissed by a local ENT office that morning and came into the ER because it was becoming difficult to swallow. She was anxious and scared because she had a family member die of angioedema some years ago. Zac wasn't the initial primary nurse, but took over her care about 2 hours after her arrival. He was integral in getting her treatment appropriately and advocated for her care the entire time. He sat at the bedside with her and the family and discussed what potentially caused this, what the meds were doing that she had been given, as well as the purpose of the FFP that was being administered. He did a phenomenal job calming her down and just being compassionate with her and her family.
