Katherine's diligence would become instrumental in a future need for a "washout" surgery. I credit her fully for preventing a potentially dangerous issue on my hip.
Katherine was assigned to me, as a Home Health RN. She was very personable & thorough. During one visit, she noted redness to the incision, areas of drainage, and/or pulling apart. This was one week following my two week doctor visit & having my incision staples removed. Due to her concerns, she took pictures of the incisions and close-ups of the red areas. She recommended that I send the images to the surgeon & stated she would do the same, along with her notes. Since the incision is in a place I cannot see, Katherine's diligence would become instrumental in a future need for a "washout" surgery. I credit her fully for preventing a potentially dangerous issue on my hip. On Katherine's visit 3 days later, she recommended that I go into the walk-in that day. She noted occasional temps & signs of infection on dressing. I went to the walk-in, where an infection was noted, they ordered bloodwork and wanted me back in 1-2 days. When I saw her next, she sent me to the hospital, which I was in for 5 days. Katherine saw me the day after my hospital discharge. On subsequent visits, she noted drainage and an area of incision that wasn't closing, which led to a third surgery. If not for Katherine's professional aptitude & passionate nursing, I would have had far worse issues. She is a great nurse who does her job above expectations.
