My daughter delivered her second child in the early morning hours. My daughter had a more difficult delivery with her first child and was very anxious. Maddy was phenomenal from the moment my daughter walked into the unit. She and her husband arrived at the Birthplace, and I was called an hour or so later asking that I join them. I was thrilled to be invited. I am also a nurse but from the Operating Room and completely out of my element in the Birthplace.

Maddy was confident and informative and put my daughter and her husband at ease from the moment they arrived. My granddaughter was born but had swallowed meconium, and upon her birth, respiratory therapy was involved in her care. Maddy, again, was amazing with the whole situation, and I know my daughter felt happy and supported. I cannot say enough about everyone in the birthplace and their kindness and attention to every detail. Maddy was so confident working with respiratory therapy and was communicating the whole time with my daughter and son-in-law about how everything was going. I believe Maddy was the charge nurse on that shift but made herself available to help T, who was the primary and amazing birthplace nurse. Maddy even made a comment, "This is a fun one," again making my daughter feel like everything is going great. I cannot say enough great things about the whole department, but Maddy shined bright, and I would love to recognize her for her hard work and the difference she made in the lives of people who are very special to me. Good work, Maddy and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
