Sarai has been able to keep a calm head and manage the department in a way that anyone can look up to. Sarai is also a very good resource for any patient care need. Her knowledge is above and beyond that of a typical nurse. We cannot thank her enough for all of her efforts.
We recently lost our manager for the department and both of our supervisors have had to take over and are currently working interim. If this wasn't stressful enough (especially with everything that is going on in our department); our other supervisor had to go on leave for medical reasons for almost two weeks now. This means Sarai is having to function as a charge nurse, run day shift, run night shift, and carry the weight of another manager and supervisor. She has been nothing but helpful and has been sacrificing so much to keep things afloat, and she does this while still trying to be positive because she views the department as her family. I couldn't think of anyone else more deserving of a DAISY Award.

Sarai has been amazing leader and nurse for the emergency department. In a time of need with low staff, Sarai has stayed countless hours to help the unit flow. Sarai has also been able to step up and train new charge nurses and step in as a charge when there is no other staff. She has also been on call for a couple weeks straight. If anyone else were to put in as many hours as she does, they would lose their mind. Sarai has been able to keep a calm head and manage the department in a way that anyone can look up to. Sarai is more than deserving of this award! She has taken every obstacle thrown at her with grace and compassion. Sarai is always there to help no matter what. She comes in with her bright smile at any hour of the day or night and lifts morale on the floor. She does not shy away from difficult situations. Instead, she will go out of her way to ensure everyone is taken care of and gets what they need. I have always felt comfortable coming to her with any problems I have, knowing that she will help me. Our department has undergone a recent shortage of management, and she has sacrificed her time and energy to be there for her team. We are all so fortunate to have her with us and can't imagine where we would be without her. Thank you, Sarai!

Sarai is normally our unit supervisor, there has been a lot of movement in our department over the last couple months and currently we are without a unit manager. Sarai is our interim manager, a role she is filling while still carrying the weight of unit supervisor as well. This is a very busy department, with recent Saltzer Health closures and our rapidly expanding community, we are busier than ever. Sarai reliably performs her management tasks, many of which most of us never even think about, as so much happens behind the scenes. On top of keeping our unit afloat, putting out very frequent fires, and managing the schedule, Sarai also fields staff concerns without making anyone feel unheard. Sarai is a long-standing fixture in our department, and she has proven herself trustworthy to the degree that people feel comfortable going to her with a variety of problems. When you go to Sarai with concerns, you leave feeling like you were listened to despite all the other issues on her to do list. Without her, our unit would surely fall apart- no one carries us better. I speak for many of the employees in this ED when I say that Sarai is a very valued member of the team and deserving of recognition for her huge contribution to our unit and to our patients and their families.
