I would like to commend my colleague, Amy Clift, in recognition of her outstanding contributions as a head and neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist. Since assuming her role of CNS, she has shown remarkable growth, evolving into an exemplary specialist nurse with an outstanding level of dedication to patient care. She models empathy and a caring attitude in all situations, fostering an environment of compassion and understanding. Her clinical skills are nothing short of excellent, delivering care with a level of compassion that truly makes a difference in the lives of our patients, and this is reflected in the feedback she has received by numerous patients, staff, and fellow colleagues. Amy radiates a positive attitude and professionalism at work, embodying both the vision, and values of our Trust. Her ability to establish a special connection with both patients and their families, creates a sense of comfort and trust during some very challenging times, such as when patients’ receive their initial diagnosis, contact prior to patients embarking on treatment, as well as during and post treatment. Her continuous care and support is endless. Amy has consistently gone above and beyond her role, particularly demonstrating an unwavering commitment to developing tracheostomy and laryngectomy training for both patients and staff across our hospital Trust, and especially for staff based on Warrington Ward and nurses based in Recovery. As a result of this, she has instilled a level of confidence in ward staff which has been of huge importance and benefit to patient care. Her commitment to tracheostomy and laryngectomy training showcases her dedication not only to individual patient care but also to enhancing the knowledge and skills of our broader healthcare team. In summary, Amy stands as a shining example of what it means to be an exceptional clinical nurse specialist. Her continuous commitment to professional development, compassionate care, and innovative training initiatives makes her an invaluable asset to, not only our H&N team but to the wider Trust too.
